Elizabeth Stoner (or Steiner) married Joseph Dutcher while in Germany and came to America, arriving in New York July 7, 1847 on the "Elizabeth." After living in Baltimore, Maryland a few years the family moved to Whiteside County in Illinois by 1857. There were other Dutchers in the county. A neighbor remembered a row of ripening tomatoes on the fence grown by a nice woman. Children: Catherine, Frederick, Jacob, Mary, John, Elizabeth, Joseph, Infant son. Elizabeth died of pneumonia on March 12, 1868, age 42. Elizabeth, a sister, daughter and son are the only persons buried on that side of the cemetery because they were poor and considered as undesirable German riff-raff.
