From the February 2, 1978 issue of the Illinoian-Star newspaper, Beardstown, Illinois: Clarence T. "Bill" Adams, 77, of 1219 Monroe St., Beardstown, was pronounced dead on arrival at Beardstown Hospital at 3:25 p.m. Wednesday following an apparent heart attack a short time earlier while he was visiting with friends at the Golden Age Center. He had been under the care of his family doctor for some time. He was a retired railway clerk of the C B and Q Railroad. Born May 14, 1900, at Centralia he was the son of William and Anna Tate Adams. He married Alice B. Cardvell May 5, 1933 at Mt. Sterling. Surviving are his wife, Alice, a sister, Mrs. Fred (Eva Pfister, Centralia, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister, Mrs. Mae Cochran who also died Wednesday afternoon a short time earlier at a hospital in Centralia and by his parents. Adams was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Beardstown; the American Association of Retired Persons and the Brotherhood of Railway, Airline and Steamship Clers, Mound City Unit NO. 0524. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow at Cline Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne E. Armbrust of the FIrst United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Beardstown City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 - 8:30 p.m. today at Clines.
