Death: Apr. 27, 1969

Wife of John BABBLER, married 29 Nov 1898 in Genoa, DeKalb Co, IL, no children, grdaughter of Daniel BEEBE Sr and his wife Cynthia (WOODWORTH) (DOW) (BEEBE) COMSTOCK (Cynthia who was first mard. to Richard DOW, then Daniel BEEBE who left her a widow carrying twins, and married again to elderly Alexander COMSTOCK), and daughter of Daniel BEEBE Jr b. 18 Sep 1838 IL, d. 2 Oct 1916 at 320 East Elm Street, Sycamore, DeKalb Co, IL, and his wife he married on 15 Mar 1868 in Sycamore, DeKalb Co, IL named Martha Minerva HASKINS b. 22 Nov 1852 Cortland, DeKalb Co, IL, d. 31 Dec 1918 Sycamore, DeKalb Co, IL (herself the daughter of Horace HASKINS b.17 Nov 1820 who brought the first metal plowshare to general use in the bread basket of America, and his wife Polly Mariah BEBEE, spelling intentional, b. 19 Jun 1820 Lorraine, Jefferson Co, NY, d. 9 Apr 1895, the dau of John BEBEE and his wife Sarah CLARK b. 30 May 1798). Anna Marie was a board member/investor in a bank for long after her husband died. During depression she poured most if not all of her money into the bank to try to keep it afloat (as per law too) and to try to stave off foreclosures to no avail. In the end the bank was forced to foreclose on many farmers and she became upset for them as well as nervous that one of them might do her harm because of those terrible losses. As a single woman and widow, she lived out her life always looking over her shoulder. She had no children but did have a menagerie of animals including a horse she named "Horse," a dog she named "Foxy," and others with similar rights to the premises until she could no longer care for them. Toward the end of her life she had need of home care after surgery and Florence (WADE) BEEBE, wife of Marie's nephew Willard BEEBE Jr, spent a couple of weeks in Marie's home performing the cleaning, cooking, and personal care. Marie showed up at Florence's doorstep after she was back on her feet carrying a box in which was a milk glass/cranberry glass hurricane lamp as thanks (no words were exchanged) which is still in my family today. After Marie died, her household was put up for auction to cover her debts and expenses and Willard BEEBE Jr tried to retrieve some of her items to the family by purchasing them at that auction. As a public servant he was not a wealthy man so there were precious few things but he was able to gain ownership of the precious family photo album, also in my family today. Rest in peace Aunt Marie.
