Vern's mother was Nona Emily Cecelia Lempke (9/9/1904 - 8/1971). Nona was married at least 3 times.
First she married Fred Bottger (10/6/1901 - 9/18/1927) May 28, 1924.
After Fred died she married Mirl Harry Mustard (3/18/1903 - 3/23/1972) Nov. 17, 1928.
Nona and Mirl were still married in April 1930 (US census), six months before Vern was born, so Mirl was his natural father.
Nona then divorced Mirl and married Willis Clyde Baker (12/31/1908 - 6/17/1980) May 28, 1931, so Willis must have adopted Vern since he went by the surname Baker.
