Mrs. Bollman, Pioneer, Dies at Cedarville
Widow of John Bollman; Resident of County Since 1840
Cedarville, Ill., April 20--Mrs. Caroline M. Bollman, widow of John Bollman, passed away at 10 o'clock last night at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. W. Frank, her demise being caused by old age.
Mrs. Bollman was the last of a family of twelve children born to George and Maria Ilgen. Caroline was born February 23, 1835, in Center [sic] county, Penn., and came to Stephenson county with her parents at the age of five years. The family settled near Dakota, and later removed to Cedarville, where she was married in 1858 to John Bollman. Her husband enlisted in the 93rd Illinois Volunteer Infantry during the civil war and was killed in the battle of Champion Hill. Mrs. Bollman had resided at the Frank residence for the past twenty-five years. She was a member of the Presbyterian church of Cedarville.
She leaves two children, John Bollman, postmaster of Cedarville, and Mrs. Alice Frank.
The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Frank residence, Rev. G. S. Smith of the Evangelical church, officiating. Leonard Bower has charge of the arrangements and the following sons of civil war veterans will serve as pallbearers: Cyrus, Frank and George Kryder, Clinton Bolender, Byron Law and Harry Rutter. Interment will be made in the Cedarville Cemetery.
