Edward M. Agles, 67, of 621 Montclaire Ave., died at 6:15 a.m. today at his home after being ill for the past year.
He had been a brick mason with Local 30 in Caseyville for 40 years and retired in 1967. He was a member of the Edwardsville Police Department from 1933 to 1941.
He was born Feb. 23, 1906, a son of the late Charles and Margaret Murphy Agles.
He was a lifelong resident of Edwardsville. He was married to Mary Scheiber on June 28, 1933.
He is survived by his wife. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Mr. Agles was a member of the Edwardsville American Legion Post 199, the International Brick Masons and Plasterers Union in Caseyville and St. Boniface Catholic Church.
Friends may call at Lesley Marks Funeral Home from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Members of veterans organizations will assemble at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Scripture service will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
The funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Boniface Church, with Rev. William Maul officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
