Beverly Kay Fotiades, age 64, passed away in Parker, Colorado on March 9, 2008. She was born May 15, 1943 in Cairo IL, daughter of Charlzene Joyner Moore and Russell Moore Jr., of Cairo. Beverly was preceded in death by her father in 1946, when she was three years old, and was raised by her step-father Earl White. He preceded her in death in 1999. Beverly accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 8 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She is survived by her mother, Charlzene White of Cairo, three sons and daughters-in-law, Donald Fotiades (Kimberly) of Mesa, Arizona., Todd Fotiades (Andrea) of Parker, Colorado, Chris Fotiades (Kim Goodman) of Santa Ana, California, and nine grandchildren, Madison, Maxwell, Mackenzi, Dino, Nicholas, Faith, Jessica, Marissa and Alecksey (Newest Grandson).
Beverly had a smile and a kind word for everyone she met. She was an outgoing and confident woman who could be described as "the life of the party". Beverly was intelligent, with a keen wit and a great sense of humor. She was a patriot with a deep sense of nationalism and spent her entire career working for the U.S. Government and our Armed Forces. Bev was a soldier at heart and a mother to the touch. We will miss her physical presence but Bev's flame will burn bright within us as a daughter, a mother, a grandmother, a peer, a confidant and a friend. We love you, Bev!
Some statistics about Bev that will help to give some insight as to the person she was.
-Favorite Color: Blue
-Favorite NFL Football Team: Dallas Cowboys (She's gonna get ya)!
-Favorite Race Car Drivers: Johnny Rutherford, Parnelli Jones, Most all of the Unsers, Mario Andretti, and most recently Danicka Patrick (woman & all).
-Least Favorite Race Car Driver: A.J. Foyt
-She absolutely loved all of her grandkids and unfortunately just missed the opportunity to spoil another grandson (Chris & Kim's boy Alecksey). She took pleasure in telling anyone who would listen just how smart and good looking her grandkids are.
-Loved to give and help others.
-Staunch Republican (She would be sick to see what is happening in this country today). Our phone bill would be thru the roof and all of us would be on a Palozzi Watch List.
-Very much a patriot & true supporter of our troops.
-Very few times I ever saw her tear up:
*Every time our National Anthem was played.
*U.S. Hockey team wins the Olympic Gold medal.
*Bomgartner won the Olympic Gold medal in wresting.
*Never heard her complain let alone saw her tear up after finding out she had cancer.
*Only time she cried was when she talked about how "dissappointed" she was that she would not get to see all of her grandkids grow up, participate in sports etc.
-Loved her house in Washington.
-Loved Christmas time.
-Loved to travel, U.S. & Overseas. Kept a talley of how many states and countries she had been to...wish I could remember the #'s. Pretty sure there were only 3 or 4 states in our Union that she had not visited.
-Was a great bowler, almost as good as she thought she was.
-Was very intelligent (although we would never tell her that, she'd never let us forget it).
-Served as President of her sons Junior-All American Football League in Southern Cal.
-Worked 40+++ hours per week, cooked our dinners, ran our football league and was as big a supporter for all our sports as any parent out there. We didn't respect it at the time, however now having children of my own, how did she do it all!
-Mom was of those people that just by knowing her, you pretty much knew that if she respected someone you had never met, you too could respect that person.
-She truly was the "Real Deal"; always herself to all. All those she loved and respected, you knew; and those she didn't...well they knew too. She was quick to let you know where you stood.
This poem was written by a favorite aunt. Bev and Aunt Catherine shared a special bond.
SHE WAS OUR GIRL
FULL OF PERSONALITY PLUS
AND "VERY SPECIAL" TO ALL OF US.
WE LOVED HER PLEASANT WAY
FOR SHE WAS THE SAME EVERY DAY.
SHE WAS A FRIEND TO ALL AND
ALWAYS EAGER TO PLEASE.
WHEN YOU WERE WITH HER,
SHE PUT YOU AT EASE.
SHE WAS WITTY AND FULL OF FUN
AND LOVED TO JOKE WITH ANYONE.
SHE HAD A SERIOUS SIDE TOO,
AND WAS VERY METICULOUS IN
ALL THAT SHE WOULD DO.
SHE LOVED HER FAMILY AND,
IN MANY WAYS, DID SHOW IT.
AND NEEDLESS TO SAY,
EACH NEW GRANDCHILD MADE HER DAY.
AND ON THEM SHE WOULD "BLOW IT".
WE FEEL BLESSED TO HAVE KNOWN
AND LOVED YOU FOR 64 YEARS.
BUT NOW THE TIME HAS COME TO GIVE YOU UP
THOUGH WE'LL SHED MANY TEARS.
GOD IS GOOD AND HE KNOWS BEST
SO WE KNOW YOUR ARE NOW AT REST.
SAFE IN THE ARMS OF JESUS WITH NO MORE PAIN
AND SOMEDAY WE WILL SEE YOU AGAIN.
