Carson A. Brown was the only child of John C. and Rachel Rankin Brown and the father of Baker C. Brown and Dorothy E. Brown Hancock Gnuse.
Carson, a respected community leader, farmed successfully throughout his life and, additionally, was a school teacher and banker. He was a co-founder of the New Canton, Illinois, Lions Club and a co-founder of the Pike County Illinois Volunteer Emergency Corps. He served as a member and president of the New Canton School Board, a member and sometimes chairman of the Church Council and Board of Trustees of the New Canton United Methodist Church. Additionally, he served many years as precinct committee chairman for the Democratic Party in Pleasant Vale Township. Carson was a hunting and boating enthusiast and a proficient trap shooter.
Other family members buried in Brown Family Cemetery are his parents, his wives, his son, his daughter, son-in-law Ralph D. Hancock, great-grandson Tim Brown, and great-granddaughter Brook E. Emerson.
