GALESBURG - Bernadine E. Johnson, 75, Galesburg, died at 3:20 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born April 20, 1934, in High Bridge, Wis., the daughter of George and Maria Suni Dewey. She married Gail C. Johnson in 1955, in Monmouth. He preceded her in death on Aug. 18, 1975.
Surviving are three daughters, Sheryl Johnson of Galesburg, Katherine (Dale) Therrien of Berwick and Becky (Gene) Lax of Green Bay, Wis.; four sons, Randy Johnson of Galesburg, Michael Johnson of Galesburg, Jay Johnson of Galesburg and Joshua Johnson of Galesburg; eight grandchildren, Megan Campbell, Natalie (Therrien) Castaneda, Gordon Therrien, Derek Therrien, Emilie Therrien, Christopher Conners, Jeremy Johnson and April Martinez; one great-granddaughter, Emma Marie Johnson, and her sister, Corinn Anderson; and her close sister, Shirley (Clarence) Lamb of Henderson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister Marlynn Bachus; and daughter-in-law Dee Johnson.
She attended Alexis High School and attended Austin Peay College in Tennessee. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading and gardening. Bernadine loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She was of Lutheran faith.
Cremation will be accorded. Private graveside service will be in Bridger Cemetery, rural Viola. Memorials may be made to the family or to a charity of the donor's choice and may be sent to the funeral home. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory, Knoxville, is in charge of arrangements.
