Mr. Brinkmann died at Memorial Hospital. He is the son of the late John and Catherine nee Korte Brinkmann. He married to LaVerne Bordewisch on Oct. 29,1955 in Dupo. He was a life member of Columbia Blue Lodge #474 A.F.& A.M., Mended Hearts Chapter 120 of St. Louis, Gasoline and Engine Club of Missouri and Illinois, Compasses Guild - Masons of Union Electric in St. Louis. He worked with the Cub Scouts in Dupo for many years and served as a Cub Master. He was a Past Watchman of Shepards of the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem - Mission Shrine #102 and served 21 months in the U.S. Army in Germany following the Korean Conflict. He retired as a motor transportation supervisor from Ameren U.E. in June 1993, after 32 years of service. Paul enjoyed his family, especially the granddaughters, antique tractors and woodworking. In addition to his wife, survivors include sons Paul Brinkmann Jr. and Jeff (Janet) Brinkmann, all of Dupo; granddaughters Christie and Courtney Brinkmann, brother Wilbur (Irma) Brinkmann of Waterloo; sisters-in-law Jean (Dave) Wiese and Karon (Roy) Bicklein of Waerloo, Viola Linke of Dupo, and Sharon (Gary) Donnell of Duluth, Ga.; an aunt, Ruth Raitt, godchildren, nieces and nephews, along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Cletus "Cookie" Brinkmann, sister Esther Mehrtens, a brother and sister in infancy; in-laws Clifford, Sr. and Alma (Weissenborn) Bordewisch; brother-in-law, Klaus LInke; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Clifford Jr. and Marie Bordewisch. Visitation was a Lawlor Funeral Home in Columbia, where Masonic services were conducted. The funeral service was at Christ United Church of Christ in Dupo, with Rev. Kim Kelly officiating. He was buried at Zion Bohnemeier Cemetery by East Carondelet. Contributions may be made to the church's elevator fund or Shriners Hospital for Children
