CORA E. BARBER, was born in Milledgeville, August 12, 1873 and died at Milledgeville Oct. 9, 1902 aged 29 years, 1 month and 27 days. The deceased has spent the greater part of her life in or near the vicinity of her birth-place and was well known to all. She was a lady whose life went out to others to do them good and doing them good she received great good to herself. Early in life she became a christian and in January 1889 she united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Milledgeville. She was baptized and admitted into full membership of the church remaining a faithful and devoted member until death. She received her early education in the home school, being one of the first graduates, and in '92-'93 attended the Normal school at Normal, Ill, afterward conducting a mil1inery store in the Dull building. Her health began failing her some three years ago and last December, she with her mother went to Arizona in the hope that a change in climate might restore her. The change while greatly beneficial was not long standing and she began to fail rapidly. Consumption had its death grip upon her and she with her mother returned home Sunday evening, September, 7th. She was always a happy contented sufferer and God came and kissed her to himself on Thursday morning, Oct. 9. She has fallen asleep to awaken in a better land. She leaves to mourn her death her mother and her three brothers, Frank at Milledgeville, Harry and Price of Glendale, Arizona, together with many other relatives and a host of friends. Those who mourn have the blessing of a sweet and holy life to cheer them on their way toward the New Jerusalem where she has taken up her abode. The funeral services were held from the home of her uncle Isaac Allison., to the Methodist church Sunday at 10:30. Rev. C.A. Gage officiated. Her remains were borne to her last rest in the Bethel cemetery by six of her school mates, Roy Durstine, Orrin Griswold, Denver Hollowell, Elmer Millard, Harvey Fike and Samuel Livengood.
