Annabel Adkins, 95, formerly of Atlanta, IL died at 9:20 a.m. Thursday (June 15, 1995) at The Abbey of Carbondale, Carbondale, where she had lived since January.
Her graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Atlanta Cemetery, Atlanta.
There will be no visitation. Quiram Funeral Home, Atlanta, is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Jan. 20, 1900, in McLean County, a daughter of Ira Elmer and Emma Ball Burkholder. She married Cecil Adkins Jan. 7, 1919, in Bloomington. He died April 9, 1986.
Surviving are a daughter, Shirley Dybvig, Carbondale; and a sister, Julia White, Champaign.
She was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, two brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Adkins attended school in McLean and Illinois State Normal University. She was a teacher in elementary schools in Waynesville, Atlanta, East Peoria and Sunnyland and later in Naples, Fla. After her retirement, she lived several years in Naples, Fla., before returning to Atlanta and Lincoln. She was a resident of Bartmann's Health Care Center, rural Atlanta, from 1990 to 1995.
