|Death: ||May 19, 1878|
Mr. Parker Albertson, of Woodworth, after prolonged and patient suffering died
at his residence, at eleven o'clock Sunday, May 19th. He was born in Butler
County, Ohio, in the year of 1819, and was consequently at the time of his death
in his 59th year.
Mr. Albertson was the sixth settler on this prairie, a pioneer of more than
ordinary courage, erecting his first house out of lumber hauled from Indiana,
and from his home during his 21 years residence here, no one was ever turned
He united with the M. E. Church at Yuntsville, IN, in the year 1847, making 30
years of Christian life.
Honest, upright generous, devoted to his family and his religion.
As he lived in peace, quiet, and hope, so he passed through the gate; surrounded
on this with many weeping friends, but met on the other side by joyous friends
and angels. A life of usefulness is ended, a good man has died and his mantle
falls upon others. But his memories and his christian example will live on.
