Frank R. Harris, 91, of Jacksonville, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at Barton W. Stone Home in Jacksonville. He was born March 8, 1917, in Jacksonville, the son of Andrew O. and Louise Robertson Harris. He married Alice "Sally" Brown on Feb. 3, 1945, in Fort Knox, Ky., and she preceded him in death March 1, 2002.
He is survived by one daughter, Francine Buchanan of Pekin; two sons, Bruce R. (Audrey) Harris of Alexander and Phillip J. (Yvonne) Harris of Millbrook; two grandsons, Jason Harris of Atlanta, Ga., and Michael Harris of Naperville; and one brother, Charles (Ella) Harris of Alexander. He was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Sam and Jack Harris; and one sister, Louise Andras.
Mr. Harris was a 1935 graduate of Jacksonville High School, then graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in agriculture. He farmed and raised cattle his entire life in the Alexander area. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville and a member of the Moose Lodge and Elks Club. Mr. Harris had served on the Franklin School Board and also as a trustee for Antioch Cemetery. He was a University of Illinois fan and college basketball and football fan. He was enjoyed his family get-togethers and was very devoted to his family, especially his wife of 57 years. He liked to keep up with current events. He enjoyed visiting with people, made friends easily, and was very generous.
Services were entrusted to Buchanan and Cody Funeral Home of Jacksonville, Illinois.
