Robert W. Diers, 75 of Ipava, died at 6:00am on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Mason District Hopital in Havana.
He was born on January 10, 1936 the son of Raymond and Emma (Hoeft) Diers in San Jose. He married Erma Jean Fletcher in San Jose on August 19, 1979, she survives.
Survivors are his wife Erma; one daughter; Bobbi Jo Diers; one sister: Ruth Donavan; three grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Mr. Diers was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Havana and a past member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, rural San Jose. Bob farmed for many years in Mason County before working at Rice Lake for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. His retirement years were spent doing many conservation projects. He owned and operated Jake Creek Farms, a member of Pheasants Forever in Fulton and Mason Counties, the Ipava Garden Tractor Pullers Club, National Wildlife Federation, Ducks Unlimited, Fulton County Farm Bureau and taught youth classes for boat safety. Bob also served in the United States Army in Germany.
Services will be at 11:00am, on Monday, April 18, 2011 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, burial will be at Allen's Grove Cemetery. Pastor Bill Liebman will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 5-7 at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City.
