Leona R. Anderson, 81, of Aledo died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, at her home.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo, with the Rev. Michael Kincaid officiating. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery.
Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where a memorial fund has been established.
She was born July 7, 1922, near Buffalo Prairie, Ill., a daughter of Harry and Edith Brayton Marple. She graduated valedictorian from Keithsburg High School in 1940.
She married Dan W. Anderson on Feb. 24, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo. He died in 1988.
Leona was employed as a secretary at the former law offices of Ives & Davis, Ives & Anderson and David Zwicker. She was then employed as a secretary for the Mercer County Sheriff's Office.
She was a member of Aledo First Baptist Church, Mercer County VFW Post 1571 Auxiliary, and American Legion Fallerans Post 121 Auxiliary.
She enjoyed bingo, reading, crossword puzzles and crocheting. She was an avid Cubs fan and loved being with her family.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Richard Sage, Aledo; four sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry Anderson, Aledo, Dick and Elsa Anderson, Andover, Minn., Bill and Laura Anderson, Aledo, and Tim and Theresa Anderson, Wentzville, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Mason ``Buzz'' Marple, Peoria. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister and two brothers.
