A. LeRoy "Andy" Anderson, of Camp St., Forestville, widower of Edna T. (Clafin) Anderson, died Wednesday, (January 16, 2002) at Bristol Hospital.
Mr. Anderson was born in Forestville on November 3, 1910 and was a son of the late Joseph and Alva Anderson. A lifelong Forestville resident, he attended local schools and graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1933.
He worked with his father in the operation of the former Anderson Dairy for 33 years, then worked for the Bristol Chamber of Commerce until retiring. A charter and life member of the Bristol Lions Club, he is a past president as well as a past district governor, and was a recipient of the Lion's Club's highest award, the Melvin Jones Fellowship.
He was active in the Bristol Boy's Club Association and was one of the founders of the Forestville branch. He also served as corporator of Bristol Hospital, chairman of the United Way, and received the E. Bartlett Barnes Distinguished Service Award from the Bristol Chamber of Commerce in 1993. He was an active member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Forestville, where he served on various committees, including serving as building chairman in 1964 when the church was built.
