Born in Stamford June 16, 1917 he was the son of the late Charles and Mary Petzolt Avery. He was the husband of Evelyn Morrison Avery of Norwalk.
An engineer, he worked for Pitney Bowes for many years. He was a pilot engineer and Flew B 17's and B28's during WW 2. A long standing member of the American Legion, Arthur was a very active member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Stamford.
A private graveside service was held in Fairfield Memorial Park, Stamford. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date St. John's Church.
The Raymond Community Funeral Home, Norwalk has charge of arrangements.
