George King Babbitt was the second child of Eugene and Mary (King) Babbitt.
He was born in NYC while his father Eugene was teaching at Columbia University.

He joined the US Army in 1917 while a student at the Massachusetts Agricultural College (later the University of Massachusetts at Amherst) and served as a Corporal in the 305th Regiment, 77th Infantry Division.
After the war he reurned to college and received his degree in Ag Science and went to work for the H. P. Hood Co. as a dairy farm manager in Somerville, MA. Later, he lost his arm in an accident and then became an accountant for the Hood Company. He spent his entire working career at Hood Dairy Products Inc.

He married Thelma Wright in 1945. She died in 2004 in Hancock, NH. They had no children.

George has a GI gravestone and US flag at the newer Babbitt family plot in Bridgewater Center Cemetery.
