Rites Friday for David Albrecht
David "Duffy" Albrecht, 69, 412 2nd St. N. E., Minot, died Monday, September 23rd at a Minot hospital. His funeral was held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church. Pastor Virgil Hegle officiated, Dr. Joseph Hegstad was soloist and Marlys Leet was organist. Pallbearers were Doug Wittikko, Tim Wittikko, Allen Kiemele, Randy Albrecht, Roy Issel and Don Almy. Interment was in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
He was born Dec. 15, 1915, in Emmons County, a son of Chris and Sophia Albrecht. He was reared on the family farm and attended schools at Temvick. He worked on the family farm before moving to Kenmare where he worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps during the depression. He married June Landis June 20, 1939, at Linton. They made their home in Kenmare before moving to Minot in 1940.
The family then moved to Kelso, Wash., where Mr. Albrecht was employed by the Army Reserve as a guard on the waterfront. They then moved to Rapid City, S.D., where he was employed as a maintenance man before returning to Minot where he owned and operated the Tastee Freez ice cream shop. He also worked as a window washer at Minot Air Force Base.
The family returned to Kenmare in 1962 and owned and operated Duffy's Drive Inn before moving to Loveland, Colo., in the early 1970's where he managed the Eisenhower Motel. Ill health forced his retirement in 1984 and they returned to Minot.
He was a former member of the Grace Baptist Church.
