Louis Thomas Anderberg, 93, Stanley, ND passed away Monday, August 17, 2015 in Stanley. His funeral service will be Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 3 p.m. at American Lutheran Church, Stanley. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Stanley.

Louis T. Anderberg was born July 8, 1922 to Henry and Nellie (Jennings) Anderberg in Jamestown, ND. He was raised in a farm family and learned valuable skills and knowledge that enabled him to continue in a career in agriculture the rest of his life. Louis attended a small rural school in Homer Township for the first eight years of his schooling and continued at Jamestown High School where he graduated from the high school.

He continued farming for a short period of time before entering the Navy. His service in the Navy included 3 years as a “Gunners’ Mate” where he taught basic shooting skills to seamen leaving for the war front in WWII. Louis received an honorable discharge from the Navy and returned to farming with his family in the Jamestown valley. His farming activities included a continuing relationship with a lovely young Jamestown lady named Lorraine Ardell Jessen.

Louis and Lorraine were joined in marriage on October 3, 1948 and a new family was formed. Farming life was busy and soon the family grew with the addition of their children, Jane, Jerry, Carol, Tom and David. In 1959 Louis moved his family to Stanley, ND and he took over the office of Supervisor for Farmers Home Administration, a position he held for 20 years. Upon his retirement from FHA, Louis continued with his farming career in Jamestown as well as starting to farm in Idaho Township, north of Stanley.

Louis worked hard to provide a good life and living for his family. He leaves a long legacy of five children, 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren all the while standing as a faithful and loving husband, mate and companion to Lorraine. He loved his family, farming, gardening, hunting and fishing. Louis was an excellent pinochle player and was loved by partners and respected by opponents!

He spent the last 18 months of his life in the resident community at the Mountrail Bethel Home where he made many friends. The family is very thankful for the loving care and relationships that nurtured Louis during his stay at the home.

Louis is survived by his wife, Lorraine; children Jane, Jerry, Carol, Tom and David; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry; mother, Nellie; and brother, Theodore.
