Mrs. Martha Ackerman died last Friday morning, September 8 at the home of her sister, Miss Jennie Scott of this city.
Martha Scott was born in Marango, Iowa in 1868 and married in 1893 to Adolph Ackerman. This union was blessed with two children, Lawrence and Elizabeth. For the past 15 years she has resided in Omaha but almost every summer has been spent in Stromsburg at the home of her sister. Mrs. Ackerman was of a sunny and cheerful disposition and made friends wherever she went.
She has been in poor health for the past 3 years but during all her sufferings was cheerful and hopeful and when the end came, she passed into a gentle sleep.
She leaves to mourn her death her husband and son, one daughter, her mother, six brothers and two sisters. One sister, Mrs. Porter having just preceded her in death 6 weeks ago. All the near relatives were present at the funeral with the exception of Miss Lizzie Scott who was unable to be present.
The funeral was held from the Scott home on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Presson of Lincoln having charge of the services. Burial was in the Stromsburg cemetery.
