Death Comes to Long Time Resident
William Anderson passed away at the hospital at Burkett, Nebr. (Soldiers Home Hospital at Grand Island), about 6 o'clock Sunday evening following a rather extended illness. HE was 89 years of age. Mr. Anderson was a Civil War veteran and also served in the regular army, being a sergeant in Company E, 2nd U.S. cavalry, serving for 96 months. A son, Wm. Anderson, resides at Dwyer, Wyo. Arrangements for the funeral have not been made, pending word from the son.
William Anderson, more familiarly known among the older business men and residents of Grand Island as "Jack" Anderson had not only a long and faithful service as a soldier, but was intimately connected with the history of Grand Island, having been a resident for over 40 years. He was always regarded by those who knew him best as a man of his word, and as one whose integrity was never questioned. He has been a member of the Home for the past 11 years.

Funeral W. H. Anderson
The funeral of William H. Anderson, civil War veteran and early frontiersman of Nebraska, will be held from the Soldiers Home chapel, at Burkett, Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. burial will take place in the Burkett cemetery (Soldiers Home Cemetery). A son, Wm. H. Anderson, Jr. of Dwyer, Wyo., arrived in the city Wednesday to be in attendance at the services.
