HARTINGTON -- Erna M. Arens, 92, Hartington, died May 28, 2005, at Beverly Healthcare, Hartington.

Visitation will be June 3, from 1-8 p.m., with a rosary at 2 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:30 p.m., at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington.

Funeral Services will be June 4, at 10:30 a.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, with the Rev. John Pietramale officiating.

Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Hartington.

Erna Mary was born June 18, 1912, in Bow Valley, to Peter and Ida (Kathol) Hochstein. She attended country school completing the eighth grade at District #13 in the Bow Valley area. She married Arthur J. Arens May 14, 1935, in Bow Valley. Art and Erna and their family lived on their farm near Hartington for 27 years, then lived in Oklahoma, Arkansas and California before returning home to Hartington in 1993. Arthur died June 5, 1996, at the age of 84.

Erna enjoyed gardening, crocheting, cooking, baking and especially playing cards. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

Survivors include seven children and their spouses, JoAnn Herndon, Chico, Calif.; Tony and Barbara Arens, Wrightwood, Calif.; Elaine and Jim Reed, Modesto, Calif.; Merle and Jackie Arens, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Dale and Barbara Arens, Simi Valley, Calif.; Richard and Carol Arens, Winnetka, Calif.; Cheryl and Ron Powell, Upland, Calif.; 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; two brothyers, Emery Hochstein, Hartington, and Merlin and wife, Delores Hochstein, Wynot,

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur; one son; two daughters; eight brothers and three sisters.
