NORFOLK — Martha Adkins passed away peacefully at Heritage of Bel Air,
Norfolk, on Oct. 17, 2013.

A memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 111 S. 9th St.,
on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 2 p.m. with a reception following for friends and
family at the Norfolk Country Club. The family requests that in lieu of
flowers, memorial donations be made to Trinity Episcopal Church or to a
charity of your choice.

Brockhaus-Howser-Fillmer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Adkins was born on July 18, 1919, in St. Joseph, Mo., the daughter
and only child of Eugene and Mildred Rothschild. She graduated from
Sioux City Central High School and from junior college in Washington, D.C.,
returned to Sioux City, where she worked as a secretary, and then married
Robert Adkins of Norfolk, where they moved to raise their family after
World War II.

Martha was an active volunteer at the regional medical center and for
Meals-on-Wheels and a member of P.E.O Sisterhood. She was a lifelong
member of Trinity Episcopal Church, where she served on the Altar Guild
and in other church organizations.

Through their lifetime, Martha enjoyed many travel and outdoor
adventures, including summers in northern Minnesota. She and Bob
made many wonderful friends — both at home and away. She led a full
and happy life, and for that we are grateful.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Adkins,
to whom she was married for 61 years.

She will be deeply missed by her two children and their families,
Tom Adkins of Rapid City, S.D., and Genie Park and husband Bill
of Kansas City, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
