Charlotte M. Doenhoefer, 83, of South Sioux City died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1999, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home, with the Rev. E. D. Pappadackis officiating. Burial will be in Omaha Valley Cemetery, rural Homer, Neb. There will be no visitation.

Mrs. Doenhoefer was born June 25, 1916, in rural Dakota City, the daughter of Louis and Adelia (Herden) Ahlf.

She married John H. Doenhoefer. He died in January 3, 1986 in South Sioux City.

She enjoyed sewing, crafts and painting.

Survivors include two sons, Russell J. Messerley, Sr. and his wife , Ruth of South Sioux City and James Kelly of Kansas; a daughter, Sharon Brummond; three brothers, Glen and Lyle Ahlf of South Sioux City and Lloyd Ahlf of Mountain Lake, Minn; a sister, Phyllis Vilim of Sioux City; a sister-in-law, Iola Ahlf of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Deb Mandicino, Russell Messerly, Jr., Barbara Collins, Brenda Tanner and Becky Stille; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Barry, a daughter, Jacquline; and a brother, Howard.
