Ula Rebecca Wood, 86, of Maywood, died Feb. 13, 2005, at the McCook Community Hospital in McCook. She was born Aug. 15, 1918, at White, to Morgan Downing and Ada Belle Staples Smith. She grew up on the farm and attended country school. On Aug. 29, 1940, she married Lloyd Franklin Wood at North Platte. After their marriage they moved southwest of Maywood where they had lived since. For the last two years, she has lived with Leslie and Carole. Mrs. Wood attended the Maywood Christian Church and was a member of the Willing Workers Club. Survivors include her daughter, Lynda (Bill) Griffin of Tucumcari, N.M.; three sons, Leslie (Carole) of Maywood, Loren of Central City, and Lonnie (Maureen) of McCook; three sisters, Phyllis (Dale) Brush of Hayes Center, Oma Refior of Lexington, and Audrey (Terry) Schultz of Manor, Texas; a brother, Herschel (Barbara Smith of Peoria, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Patrick (Kari) Wood, Brett (Annette) Wood, Justin (Malinda) Wood, Bryan Wood, Courtney Wood, Kacey Wood and Cheyanne Wood; seven great-grandchildren, Ty, Bailey, Paige, Alexis, Tristian, and Carlee; three sisters-in-law, Audrey Smith of North Platte, Caroline Wood of Curtis, and Leora Wood of North Platte; and other family.She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; her parents; two sisters, Elva Mink and a infant, Alta Mae Smith; and two brothers, G. Melvin Smith and Joseph D. "Junior" Smith. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore in North Platte with the Rev. Dale Heimer of the Maywood Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in the Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Wednesday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore and before the service on Thursday.
