Phylis Marie Wilkens, 83, of North Platte, died Dec. 30, 2004, at Linden Court.
She was born Nov. 12, 1921, to Frank and Carrie Belle Pallush Naylor at Painesville, Ohio. She attended Harvey High School in Painesville.
On Dec. 11, 1945, she married Leonard F. Wilkens in Ohio and had resided in the North Platte community since. He preceded her in death Feb. 7, 1977.
Mrs. Wilkens was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, was a vice president of Ladies of Charity, member of American Legion Auxiliary, where she had been a local past president as well as state past president, 8 and 40 Les Frontiers Salon of the American Legion, and past president and card chairman of the Eagles Auxiliary, and was member of the Bakers Dozen Extension Club. She was also a member of BPO Does, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Catholic Daughters of America, 8 Queens Pinocle Club, Thursday evening Pinocle Club, was a Bible Group Leader at church, UP Old Timers Club and R&R Club. Phylis was also one of the members of the American Legion Auxiliary, who visited the fifth grade classes of the North Platte area schools and taught the students flag etiquette. She was also a longtime volunteer at the Bargain Bin, Lincoln County Historical Society, Great Plains Regional Medical Center and area nursing homes, and as well selling bricks for the 20th Century Veterans Memorial.
Survivors include a daughter, Marcine (Melvin) Everhart of North Platte; a son, Mark (Shirley) Wilkens of Ogallala; a sister, Margaret Gergely of Painesville, Ohio; five grandchildren, Heather Donohoe (Larry Crosier), Lisa (Ron) Girard, Amy Everhart, Sarah Everhart (Shawn Triplett) and Eric Everhart (Jessica Soto); eight great-grandchildren, Sheldon, Emily, Savannah, Tanner, Joshua, Alex, Morgan and Abbey; and a foster great-grandchild, Angela; and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Paul, Robbie and Lawrence; and a niece Susan Gergely.
Christian Wake Services will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at
Adams & Swanson Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with the Rev. Gary Brethour as celebrant. Burial will be at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. today and Sunday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home.
