COLUMBUS - Luella F. Armstrong, 89, of Columbus died Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at the Columbus Manor. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at the Bible Baptist Church in Columbus with the Rev. Loren Swiney officiating. Burial is at the Brunswick Cemetery with graveside services at 3:30 p.m. Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. today and 8-9 a.m. Thursday, both at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus. Visitation continues from 10 a.m. Thursday until service time at the church. Mrs. Armstrong was born Jan. 22, 1911, in Plainview to Daniel and Myrtle (Russell) Kettle. She grew up on a farm near Brunswick and attended rural school near Brunswick and Neligh High School. She married Frank Armstrong March 14, 1928, in Center. The couple farmed for many years in the Brunswick and Creighton area. In 1961, after the death of her husband, she made her home in Columbus with her daughter and son-in-law until 1996 when she entered the Columbus Manor. She was a member of the church. Survivors include a son, Daniel of Bellwood; five daughters, Leatrice Behnk of Greeley, Gay Harriman, Twila Neuwirth and June Wilgocki, all of Columbus, and Deanna Kleider of Springfield; one sister, Helen Curtis of Hopkins, Minn.; 15 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four brothers; two sisters; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
