Met Death by a Run Away
A sad accident occurred last Monday forenoon about eleven o'clock, which cast a gloom of sorrow over a happy home and the entire community in general.
Fred J. Bennett and Gill Palen were driving up Main Street, when the team took fright by some means and became unmanagable and Mr. Bennett in an attempt to save his life jumped from the wagon, striking the ground on his head and shoulders at a tremenduos force breaking the juggler vain in his neck, which resulted in death after lingering about five hours in an unconscious condition.
Mr. Palen stayed with the run away until the team was stopped, and by so doing, saved his own life.
Mr. Bennett was a young man of twenty seven years of age and was well and favorable known in this locality, having been a partner of Mr. Palen's in the well drilling business for many years.
The funeral service was held yesterday foremoon and the remains laid to rest in the Olcott cemetery.
The friends of the deceased will join with The Courier in extending their heartfelt sympathy in this hour of sorrow.
