Poet, playwright, essayist and philosopher. He was a professor at the University of Seville and the University Complutense of Madrid since the 1950s. Then, he went into exile in Paris, where he taught at the University of Lille and the Collège de France. After return, he continued as a professor at the Complutense University of Madrid until 1992, when he became Emeritus Professor. Among his philosophical works are: "Lecturas presocráticas I y II", "Razón común" "Contra el tiempo", "De Dios" and "Contra la realidad". As a poet, he has published: "Canciones y soliloquios", "Más canciones y soliloquios" , "Del tren", "Libro de conjuros", "Ramo de romances y baladas", "Sermón de ser y no ser", "Valorio 42 veces" and "Relato de amor" . he also authored drama works as: "Ismena", "Rey de una hora" and "Baraja del rey don Pedro". During his career he received many awards, including National Prize for Essay in 1990 and National Prize for Dramatic Literature in 1999.
