Beauty Queen, Actress. A dark haired beauty, she is remembered as Miss France 1920, the first girl to hold that title. Born Jeanne Germaine Berthe Agnes Souret, little is known of her early life save that she was raised under modest circumstances and was unknown to the general public before beating out a large field to win her crown. Agnes quickly became the darling of her country, made two forgettable movies, 1920's "Lily of the Mont Saint Michel" and the 1921 "House of the Hanged", and traveled to London before returning to France where she worked for an upscale milliner. Soon taking to dance as apparently had her mother, she performed at the Ballet de Monte Carlo as well as at Paris' famed Folies Bergere. Agnes died suddenly of peritonitis while touring South America and was returned home for burial.
