Depending on the record you're looking at, T.J. was born in Alabama or Louisiana in 1876 or 1877. You can find T.J. in the 1900 census in Batangas, Philippine Islands, with Military and Naval Forces. He was was a veteran of the Spanish-American war. After 1900, T.J. moved to Dunklin County, Missouri and settled on a farm.
On 15 Jun 1902, T.J. married Florence Opal Murphy, daughter of Martin Van Buren and Martha Susan (Lookinbee) Murphy.
T.J. and Florence had the following children: Paul, Beulah, Hallie, Jewell, and Mildred.
At the time of his death, T.J. was living in the northern part of Kennett. The family moved to Kennett in 1926. He died about 10:30 at night at this home of acute indigestion, believed to have been caused by something eaten at noon Christmas day. T.J. had been in ill health for six or eight months.
In addition to his widow, T.J. was survived by five children: Paul and Miss Mildred Hasty, at home, and Mrs. Junius Garratt, Mrs. Robert Wright and Mrs. Hallie Wright, all of Kennett.
Burial was Thursday afternoon at 2:30 in the Sumach cemetery with the Lentz Undertaking Co. having charge of arrangements.
