Gospel Preacher, Pastor, Community Leader. He was the founding pastor of Greater Sweethome Missionary Baptist Church located at 7312 Forest Hill Dr. in the city of Forest Hill, Texas in Tarrant County, a suburb of Fort Worth, Texas. Preaching the Word of God, spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ and reaching out to those in need, Rev Kirk had his calling in 1984 and planted Greater Sweethome in 1995. Today the church has over 850 members, a food pantry, a clothing ministry and a scholarship program for students. He was Chaplain for Forth Worth ISD and former football star at East Texas University (Texas A&M). Thousands from Albany, Georgia to New York City and places in between learned of this great man of God. Visitation was held on Friday November 2, 2012 at Greater Sweethome Baptist Church at 4 to 9 P.M. The Celebration Of Life Services were held on Saturday at 12 noon from the santuary of Great Commission Missionary Baptist Church located at 7770 McCart Avenue, Forth Worth, Texas. Dr. Douglas Brown, officating and the pastor, Rev. Derek Winkley eulogist. Rev. Kirk will be entombed next to his daughter, Dannyell. Loving wife, Lady Lori A. Kirk, son, Danny "DJ" Kirk, Jr., mother, Bernice Kirk, parents, Melvin L. and Octavine McClendon, brothers Earnest Kirk (Adella), Benell Lirk (JoAnn), sisters, Claniel Thomas (Pastor Willie R.), Lenell Kirk-Hall, Beatrice Gardner (Hugh), Shirley Ann McCullough, Greater Sweethome Church family and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
