E. Belle Meyers, formerly of Dublin, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at the Souderton Mennonite Homes, Franconia Twp., PA. She was 98.
Belle was the wife of the late Willard H. Meyers and the mother of the late Jon W. Meyers.
She was born in Plumstead Twp., PA, to the late Elmer and Laura (Worthington) Bishop.
For many years, she helped her husband with the bookwork for his business, Willard H. Meyers Painting and Paperhanging.
She was a member of the Dublin Fire Company Ladies' Auxiliary, the Order of the Eastern Star, Doylestown Chapter No. 327, and the Dublin Historical Society. She kept up with current events and enjoyed a good discussion on politics.
Belle traveled the U.S. and beyond with her husband, attending Lions' Club conventions. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword and word search puzzles and was a Philadelphia Phillies' fan. She loved to cook, collected cookbooks, and often experimented with new recipes for church potluck events.
Belle was a long-time member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ, Dublin, where she was active with the women's groups, Needlework Guild and Altar Guild in past years.
Belle will be missed by her daughter-in-law, Anita Meyers, of Dublin; her sister, Gertrude Bryan and her husband Claude, of Dublin; her niece and caregiver, Jodelle Bryan and her husband John Alcott, of Dublin; and many other loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and son, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Derstine, Edna Kriebel and Mabel Stauffer, and a brother, Harvey Bishop.
Family and friends are invited to call Friday, July 18, 2014, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Bernard Suess Funeral Home, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA. Family and friends will also be received Saturday July 19, 2014, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the Souderton Mennonite Homes, 207 W. Summit Street, Souderton, PA, in the Fellowship Room with a Memorial Service to follow in the Souderton Mennonite Homes Summit View Auditorium at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in St. Luke's Union Cemetery, Dublin.
