A million thanks to Joyce for finding my family in Toledo, Ohio. I am forever grateful.

Nazaret Astikian's name is spelled incorrectly, Naczaret, on the City of Toledo Forest Cemetery Tracking System ID: 15981. I included it in the title so that it would eliminate any confustion or duplication.

"The Ohio Historical Society Ohio Death Certificate Index Ohio Death Certificate Index. Searchable Database. ASTIKIAN, Nazaret Death Date: 7/10/1917, Lucas County Volume #2324, Certificate #46913. "

"City of Toledo Forest Cemetery Graves Tracking System ID: 15981. The name Astikian, Naczaret, is incorrect. It is Nazaret Astikian. Date of burial, 7-12-1917. Astikian, Section Old Commons Grave 7623 Block 36. Location MTR (Middle Travis Road) 36'-9". "

"Ohio Deaths, 1908-1932, 1938-1944, and 1958-2007 Record for Nazaret Astikian. State File Number, Volume 2324, Certificate 46913, date of death 07/10/1917."

"State of Ohio Bureau of Vital Statistics Certificate of Death. File No. 46913, Registered No. 2230. Nazareth Astikian male, dob 6/21/1915, dod July 10, 1917. Cause of death, multiple fractures of skull, accidental fall thru window to the sidewalk. Yeprem Astikian and Satenig Cassabian, father and mother."

According to Armenian tradtion, offspring's middle is the father's first name. Hence, Nazaret Yeprem. The death certificate does not have Yeprem on it. But to clarify the records I have included this a lineage reference, because Stephen Astikian, Yeprem's brother also named his son Nazaret who died in 1916.

Tragically, he fell out of a two story window while under the care of his grandmother, Mrs. Haji Maritza Mary Yepremian Astikian. This photo of baby Nazaret hung in my grandmother Satenig's bedroom in Los Angeles, until her death in 2002. She never spoke of him to me.

He is named after his paternal grandfather, Haji Nazaret Astikian 1837-1913. Haji Nazaret sponsored 22 Armenians to come to America. "Haji" denotes that they traveled to the Holy Land on a pilgrimage. They were devout Christians.

Grandparents:
Haji Nazaret Stephen Astikian #116638690
Mrs. Haji Maritza Yepremian Astikian #116638242.

Nazaret is my Uncle. Nancy June Astikian is my mother. Astikian-Yepremian-Cassabian family tree ancestry.com
