Viola Stucki Wood, 90, returned to the open arms of her Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ and many loving family members for a grand reunion on October 26, 2012.

Viola was born April 5, 1922 in Coltman, Idaho, the second of seven children of Gottfried and Louie Stucki. She graduated from Ucon High School in 1939, and very soon thereafter met George D. Wood, marrying on September 22, 1942 in Coltman. They traveled the country extensively during George's military service in WWII and the Korean War, eventually settling in Inkom, then Pocatello, living on Mink Creek Road nearly 50 years. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple February 29, 1952.

Viola was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served others diligently all of her life. She especially enjoyed serving as a Blazer Scout leader, Girls Camp leader and Welfare director. She taught many how to identify wild edible plants, first aid, and how to be prepared for emergencies.

Viola grew large gardens in addition to orchards of fruit trees, and canned large quantities of food which she generously shared with others. She believed in having a year's supply of food and other life necessities.

Viola showed love and compassion to others continually, following the teachings and example of Jesus Christ. She enjoyed painting classes and created many works of art in oil and watercolor. Other than volunteering her time for causes such as the Pennies by the Inch and Cancer drives, she often worked at polling locations, but her most important occupation in life was being a stay-at-home-mom; truly more than a full-time job.

Viola and George had six children, four sons and two daughters: Steven (Lea), Alan (LeeAnne), Sydney (Barbara), Donald (Shauna), Sheri (Dan) Kunkel and Teresa (Efrain) Velasquez.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Grant and Marvin Stucki; husband; son, Steven; and daughter-in-law, Jill.

She is survived by her remaining children; 38 grandchildren; 99 great-grandchildren; two great-great granddaughters, and more to come!

Thank you to Helping Hands Home Care and Quinn Meadows.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 2, 2012 at 1:00 pm in the Mink Creek LDS Ward Chapel, 8200 W. Portneuf Rd., Pocatello, with Bishop Efrain Velasquez, officiating.
