Andrew Fairchok, much-loved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle, passed into paradise on Aug. 10, 2012.
A master wood carver who attended the Oberammergau Wood Carving School in Germany, Andrew's finely crafted work can be found worldwide in pieces great and small, from figurines to large reliefs of wildlife and birds. Andrew taught his art to any who wished to learn, with a kindness and gentleness of spirit that won him a multitude of friends. Originally from Scranton, Pa., Andrew served in the U.S. Navy before pursuing a computer programming career with IBM for 30 years. After retiring, Andrew started wood carving full-time in Kingston, N.Y., then Prescott, Ariz., a community he loved and has called home for the last 10 years.
Andrew is survived by his beloved wife Gisela; three sons, Lance, Gene and Andrew; one daughter, Cynthia Mercier; one sister, Janet Dickinson; two nieces, Linda and Lisa Dickinson; two stepsons, Randy and Richard Brooks; two stepdaughters, Maria Arrick and Kelly Marotta; 12 grandsons; six granddaughters; and his constant companion, Pommes, a white Bichon Frise who misses him very much, as do we all.
Andrew was a faithful member of Chino Valley Bible Church, 317 Market Place Drive, Chino Valley, AZ 86323, where a memorial and celebration of life will take place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012, followed by a reception with the family.
The Sunrise Funeral Home in Prescott Valley was entrusted with his arrangements.
