Commending Grace Lynn; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Grace Lynn has long been recognized by the citizens of Baxley and Appling County for the vital role that she has played in community leadership and her deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS, she has diligently and conscientiously devoted
innumerable hours of her time, talents, and energy toward
the betterment of her community and state as evidenced
dramatically by her many years of service as a
beautification specialist for the city of Baxley and her
philanthropic efforts on behalf of Omega Cemetery, Hidden
Cemetery, Appling Convalescent Center, and First United
Methodist Church; and
WHEREAS, her effective leadership abilities have resulted in her being named the 1998 Citizen of the Year in Appling
WHEREAS, her significant organizational and leadership
talents, her remarkable patience and diplomacy, her keen
sense of vision, and her sensitivity to the needs of the
citizens of her community have earned her the respect and
admiration of her colleagues and associates; and
WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an
unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence,
fairness, and kindness; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the
outstanding accomplishments of this distinguished Georgian
be appropriately recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Grace Lynn for her many decades of efficient, effective,
unselfish, and dedicated public service to the citizens of
her community and state and extend to her their most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House is
authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of
this resolution to Grace Lynn.

BAXLEY -- Miss Grace Lynn, 98, died Feb. 25 at Appling Healthcare System.
She was a native of Appling County and lived in Atlanta for many years before returning to Appling County in 1974. She was an interior decorator and a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she was active in the beautification of church grounds. She was in charge of beautification for the City of Baxley and Appling County for many years.
SURVIVORS: several cousins.
VISITATION: 7-9 p.m. today at Swain Funeral Home.
FUNERAL: 3 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church, burial in Omega Cemetery.
