IRON MOUNTAIN MAN MISSING SINCE OCT. 24
Sgt. Warren Francis McLaughlin, eldest son of Mr. & Mrs. Hugh McLaughlin, 310 East D Street,
has been missing in since October 24 in the South Pacific Theater.
His wife & daughter live in Detroit & was notified d by the United States War Department.
Sgt. Warren McLaughlin attended school in Iron Mountain & left for Detroit where he was
married & worked for the Michigan Bell Telephone Company.
He entered the service on August 30, 1943 & after training stateside, was assigned to a
bomber base in the Pacific Theater & participated in several of the big battles in that area.
Sgt. McLaughlin, a gunner on an American bomber which has been attacking the Japanese
in the South Pacific, is a brother to TSgt Claude McLaughlin, who, shot down over Italy,
spent 18 months in an Italian Prison Camp. He escaped after months of hardship &
rejoined American forces. A 3rd son, Sgt. John McLaughlin, is with the Marines in the South Pacific.
