| Birth: | Nov. 9, 1910 | | Death: | Nov. 10, 1995 | Country Musician. Bluegrass fiddler. He was known to be one of the great bluegrass musicians of all time. He had never had formal music training in his life and never learned to read music. He appeared on the Grand O' Opry for over 30 years. He had performed at all the famed concert halls of North American and Europe. In 1957, if was an honor to him to be allowed to perform before royalty, King Paul and Queen Frederika of Greece, in Houston, Texas. The King would not let him stop playing until over 50 tunes had been performed. Grief-stricken from the sudden death of his wife, 'Texas Ruby' Owens Fox, he retired from public performances and moved back to Graysville, Tennessee in 1975. (bio by: Dean Wilson)
