969. Agnes Maria Kluge, m.n. von Pannach. xxviiii, n. 2. May 8. Born Nov. 8, 1807, near Kleinwelka, Saxony. Came to this country with her relative, the Rev. L. D. de Schwinitz, residing for some years in Salem, N.C., where she attended the Academy. Later, removed to Bethlehem, where she completed her education in the Young Ladies' Seminary, serving there as teacher until her marriage to the Rev. Charles F. Kluge, Sept. 9, 1828. With him she served in Lancaster, Linden Hall Seminary, New York, and in Nazareth Hall, of which her husband was principal, removing then to Salem, N.C. Her husband having been elected a member of the Unity's Elders' Conference, she moved to Berthelsdorf in 1853. Returned to this country after the General Synod of 1857, living in Bethlehem and Nazareth. After her husband's death, March 26, 1880, she removed to Bethlehem. Celebrated their golden wedding in 1878. She had five children, on daughter, who had been a teacher in Bethlehem Seminary twenty-seven years, preceding her into eternity. Departed this life unexpectedly, aged 79 years and 6 months.
