Thelma W. Brothers, of Chattanooga, died in a local nursing home on Tuesday, April 5, 2005.
She was a Christian, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. She graduated in 1948 from the Cadet Nursing Program and served as a registered nurse for many years at Erlanger.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Stephen "Steve" L. Brothers Sr.; daughters, Sandra and Stephen Smith, Charlotte, N.C., Patricia Herren, Brenda and Richard Hogshead, both of Nashville; son, Steve Jr. and Terri Brothers, Soddy-Daisy; grandchildren, Deborah Bateman, Michael Smith, David Smith, Katherine Robbins, Natalie Smith, all of Charlotte, N.C., John, Jenny, Jill and Jacob Herren, all of Nashville; great-grandchildren, Cliff Bateman and Courtney Smith, Charlotte, N.C.
Thelma was a dedicated and faithful member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and Wesleyan Sunday School Class for 47 years. She loved God, family and always exhibited a love for others. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, music, hiking and a great love for all types of nature and outdoors. She will always be loved and remembered with many precious happy memories and she now blesses Heaven with her presence.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2005, in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Dale Gilbert officiating.
Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga.
