Mac Franklin, 78, a member of one of the oldest families, died July 30 in a local hospital after a six month illness with a heart condition. He was born September 5, 1874, a son of Abe and Cynthia Webb Franklin, and had been a lifelong resident of this county. He resided in Thelma at the time of his death. He had been a member of the Church of Christ for the past 61 years.
Surviving are his wife, Minerva Sammons Franklin, four son, Henry and Estill Franklin, both of Thelma, Floyd Franklin, Thealka, and
Freddie Franklin, Marion Ohio, four daughters, Mrs Ida Murphy, Ironton, Ohio, Mrs. Mrytle Van Hoose, Ashland Ky. Mrs. Angie Wells, Williamsport, Ky.; Mrs. Nancy Welch, Thealka, and 29 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are the following brothers an sister, Mrs. Mahala Hall, Tomahawk. Ky., Mrs. Minerva Delong, Van Lear, and Mames Franklin, Thealka. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the Franklin Cemetery at Concord by Hershell Short and Leonard Webb. Burial was made in the Franklin Cemetery under the direction of the Preston Funeral Home.
