HAZEL M. COOK

Friends in and around this community are
saddened over the week-end to hear of the
death of former Antioch district resident
Miss Hazel Cook who passed away on
Thursday afternoon at the Cullers hospital
in Trenton, Missouri. She was 48 years,
11 months and 23 days.

Miss Cook who was a pastor of the Free
Methodist Church at Mt. Moriah, Missouri
was traveling on a bus to Sedalia, Missouri
to attend a District Quarterly Conference
of the Free Methodist Church when she
became suddenly ill and was rushed to the
hospital in Trenton. Death came a short
time later, which according to the coroner's
inquest was caused by a cerebral hemorrhage.

Miss Cook was born near Irving, Kansas
and her entire life was spent in this comm-
unity until a few years ago when she went
to Missouri to take charge of a Free
Methodist Church. She devoted her entire
life to work in the church. She served 12
years as a Sunday School Superintendent
at the Frankfort church and during this
period much time was devoted to missionary
work through the medium of the press and
personal contacts. She spent three years at
Washington, Kansas and one year at Novinger
Missouri and at the time of her death was
Pastor of the Mr. Moriah and Sharon Chapel
Circuit.

She is survived by one sister, Miss Edna H.
Cook, who had made her home with Hazel;
two brothers Orville A. Cook, Raton, New
Mexico and George Reginald Cook, Grand
Junction, Colorado.

Funeral services were held on Sunday at Mt.
Moriah, Missouri and the body was brought
to Frankfort, Kansas on Monday and services
were held at the Free Methodist Church at
2:00 p.m.

Burial was in the Antioch Cemetery,
southwest of Frankfort, Kansas.
