Frederick Waldo Whitney was born Aug. 8, 1854 Fitchburg, Worcester, MA, son of George E. and Sarah J. Whitney. He married Celia Smith in Chelsea in 1876.

Celia died in 1883 and is buried in Acton's Woodlawn Cemetery. Fred remarried in Acton, MA in 1884. His second wife was Emma Estabrook, a teacher born in Acton to Joseph and Nancy.

Aside from his ownership of the lot where his first wife is buried, there is no record of his own burial in Woodlawn Cemetery records. It is possible that he was buried elsewhere. No stone has been found.

It has been suggested that he might be related to George Whitney #99907280 and Sarah #99907413, but the relationship is not clear. They are too young to be his parents.
