"The History of Friendship" written from notes of Dr William Hahn says that Ira died at sea in 1875. Records at Mystic Seaport indicate that Ira was Master of the bark "Jane A Bishop" built at Greenport, Long Island NY, 1857 and registered at Nassau, New Providence. He was listed as master for the years 1870 through 1876.
