Mrs. Menno Kaan Dies Tuesday After Long Illness

Mrs. Menno C. Kaan, 55, died at 11:30 Tuesday morning, July 11, in the Spencer Hospital after being in failing health for the past three years. Funeral arrangements have been made for Thursday at 2:00 o'clock with Rev. Lawrence P. Juell officiating at the Peet Chapel.
Mabel Geneva Butler was born July 26, 1894 to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Butler and was raised near Emerson, Neb. In 1916 she came to Wyoming and lived on a homestead 14 miles south of Lusk. On November 12, 1919 she was married to Menno C. Kaan.
Mr. and Mrs. Kaan have six children: Mrs. Jantine Warnock of Dubois, Wyo., Gordon, Lawrence, Cecil and Mrs. Shirley Thomas of Lusk; and Mrs. Bonnie Thomas of Laramie.
She was preceded in death by one brother, her parents and two sisters.
Mrs. Kaan was a member of the Congregational Church and the Church Ladies Circle. She also belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star, the Lusk Woman's club and the Lusk Rebekah Lodge No. 12. Mrs. Kaan was past Noble Grand of the Lusk Lodge and past president of the District Rebekah Lodges of Eastern Wyoming. She was also a charter member of the Node Homemaker's club.
She is survived by her husband, Menno C. Kaan of Lusk, six children, three brothers, Lawrence Butler of Lusk, Robert and Otto Butler of Niobrara, Nebr., and nine grandchildren.

Last Rites Held For Mrs. Kaan
Last rites were conducted by Rev. Lawrence P. Juell Thursday, July 13, for Mrs. Menno C. Kaan, who died Tuesday, July 11 after a lingering illness of three years. Services were in the Peet Chapel with burial in the Lusk cemetery.
A mixed quintet composing Miss Phyllis Johns, Mrs. Lage Culver, Jr., William G. Watt, Gerald Bardo and Don Taylor sang "God Be With You" and "We are Going Down the Valley." Mrs. Gerald Bardo furnished the chapel music and organ accompaniment.
Mrs. Kaan's three sons, Gordon, Lawrence and Cecil, all of Lusk and her sons-in-law, Vernal L. Warnock of Dubois, Earl Thomas Of Kemmerer and Ralph Thomas of Laramie served as pallbearers for the service.
