Word was received here today (Thursday) that John Wilbur Manly, a Columbia boy, had been killed in a automobile collision in which two other area men had lost their lives.
The accident occurred near Waco, Texas, where the group had gone for two weeks training at the Army Reserve Training Camp at Fort Hood.
Young Manly was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Manly, and a grandson of Steve Manly, all residents of Volman Lake community.
He graduated from the Columbia School in 1955, and was presently employed with the Louisiana Power and Light Co., and was residing with his wife in Monroe. His wife was the former Sandra Humphreys, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Humphreys of the Heights.
At the time of going to press Thursday afternoon, no other information was available concerning the accident or time of funeral.
