Funeral services for Charles Joseph Barthle, retired Groton carpenter and area resident since 1915 were held at 10:00 am Tuesday, April 16, 1963 at St. John's Catholic Church. The Rev E. J. Coyne officiated and interment was in the Catholic cemetery. Recitation of the Rosary was held at 8:00 p.m. Paetznick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Barthle was born at Melrose, MN on May 16, 1878 and married Anne Petters at St. Joseph, Fla. June 23, 1903. He was a member of St. John's Catholic church and the Knights of Columbus County Unit, Aberdeen.
Survivors are two sons, Andrew A. Barthle, SD, Col Robert C Barthle, Fort Monmouth, N.J.; two daughters Elfrieda (Freda) Goodwin, Ellensburg, Wash, and Mrs. Hildegarde Brown, Groton; three brothers Matthew John, Dade City, Fla.. and Andrew Peter of Tampa, Fla., one sister Josephine Barthle, Groton; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
